A tour of 'the Invisible City'

Get to know the southern half of Dallas, which far too many residents have never set eyes on. Start with this interactive map that explores the area in depth — complete with photos and videos.

The neighborhoods

To start our campaign, we will advocate for progress in five strategically chosen neighborhoods, with the hope that change will, in turn, radiate outward.

West Dallas
Gateway

Grand South
Dallas

The Heart of Oak Cliff

Red Bird
Renewed

Pleasant Grove Crossroads

About this project

"Bridging Dallas' North-South Gap" is a campaign by the Dallas Morning News editorial board to lift the southern part of Dallas.

It's an area rich in potential that comprises more than half the city's landmass, stretching from West Dallas through Oak Cliff and historic South Dallas to the city's southeastern line. These are distinct neighborhoods with distinct problems and successes, linked only by geography — and a gap between them and the north.

Our crusade is to close that gap.
